BHA PTO 2025-2027 POSITIONS
President
The President oversees the PTO Board and committee functions. They will serve as the primary point of contact between PTO and the BHA administration. This individual will approve the PTO calendar and events. They will also act as an ambassador for both the school and PTO for new families joining the BHA community.
Vice President
The Vice President assists the President across all PTO matters. In the President’s absence or inability to act, the Vice President will perform those duties. The VP will also oversee other committees (such as volunteer, sports, senior students’ representative, etc.) and serve as BHA and PTO ambassador to new families.
Secretary
The Secretary prepares meeting agendas, documents attendance, and records minutes for all meetings of the PTO Board and General Body. They support the volunteer and room parent coordinators in maintaining contact lists to support their function. The secretary also supports other PTO Board members in drafting correspondence required to perform their actions. The secretary is also a signatory in the BHA PTO financial account (along with President, Vice President, & Treasurer).
Treasurer
The treasurer maintains custody of all PTO funds. They keep a full and accurate account of receipts, expenditures, and PTO debit card holders. The treasurer is also responsible for preparing the annual financial statement. The treasurer is also required to assist in filing annual taxes.
Fundraising Chair
The fundraising chair organizes initiatives. They will manage event donation and sponsorship requests by directly engaging potential candidates. The fundraising chair will oversee the Annual Ramadan Souq, school rewards programs (e.g. Box Tops for Education, Target, Staples, etc.), family night out, and more. They will provide an event evaluation after each event. Finally, the fundraising chair will create a community resource page to get business sponsors with assistance of the social media and marketing coordinators.
Volunteer Coordinator
The volunteer coordinator will manage the volunteers for the PTO, including but not limited to recruitment, engagement, and retention of parent and teacher volunteers. They will work to ensure PTO events are sufficiently staffed for various duties.
Home Room Parent Coordinator
The room parents coordinator chairs the room parent committee, which consists of 1 parent from ECE: preK-5th grade or 1 parent from Main: 6-12th grade. These room parents help enhance the student learning environment by working directly with teachers and organizing various activities or services, e.g. field trip chaperones, decorating classrooms for special events, teacher appreciation week, bake sale contributions, etc.
Marketing Coordinator
The marketing coordinator will manage digital and print promotions for PTO sponsored events and activities.
Social Media Coordinator
The media coordinator maintains the PTO’s social media presence and leverages various communications mediums to inform the BHA community about PTO sponsored and/or managed activities, i.e. quarterly newsletters. This individual will coordinate with the marketing coordinator, sales coordinator, events coordinator, and others to promote PTO events.
Events Coordinator
The events coordinator will oversee and organize all PTO sponsored events, such as Islamic Bookfair, Fall Festival, Ramadan/Eid Around the World, and more. They will help organize any parent, teacher, and student educational and enrichment events.
Note: There will be 2 positions for BHA and 1 position for LHA.
Sales Coordinator
The sales coordinator organizes the weekly PTO bake sales by ensuring there are sufficient supplies, food orders are placed with vendors, and coordinate with the treasurer on expenditures. They will be responsible for recruiting and training parent volunteers to help with the sales.
