English/Language Arts
6th - 8thGrade 6
This course is focused on preparing students to be academically and mentally ready for higher intellectual learning. The curriculum includes the TEKS standards with emphasis on vocabulary, grammar, college-level skills such as engaging in discussion, writing essays, and note-taking, literary analysis, non-fiction & poetry analysis, public speaking, self-reflection, and applied English skills. Students can expect a challenging high-expectation environment that will also be fun, creative, and hands-on as well as tying in Islam in all aspects of literature and English.
Readings: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, The Watson’s Go to Birmingham- 1963 by Christopher Paul Curtis, and Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman.
