Grade 9

This introductory course provides the foundation for the higher level English II course as well as a means to prepare students for college level English courses. At the end of this course, students are expected to demonstrate mastery of the reading and writing process, critical thinking, and comprehension at a high level. The goal of this course is to both prepare students for future coursework and to give them the skills they need to become critical thinkers of literature and life. The major components of the English I as outlined by the TEKS are reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Throughout the course of this year, students will explore and refine each of these skills through the integration of Islam in all aspects of literature and English.
