Science / STEM Connection
1st - 5th1st Grade
Students investigate living and nonliving things, plant and animal needs, weather, and properties of matter. Hands-on activities, observations, and simple investigations provide opportunities to apply scientific concepts.
2nd Grade
Students explore life cycles, habitats, states of matter, and simple machines. STEM activities include model building, observation, and hands-on investigations that reinforce science concepts.
3rd Grade
Students investigate ecosystems, food chains, energy flow, and the effects of changes within an ecosystem. BHA incorporates the 5E instructional model, hands-on models, and STEAM activities to support scientific understanding.
4th Grade
Students explore ecosystems, food webs, energy, simple machines, and Earth’s patterns and systems. STEM activities provide opportunities for students to design, build, and test models that demonstrate scientific concepts.
5th Grade
Students investigate matter, forces and energy, Earth and space systems, ecosystems, and adaptations. BHA integrates hands-on investigations and engineering design activities that allow students to apply scientific concepts and develop problem-solving skills.
